I want to thank every band that submitted, got in touch, and helped out with this comp. I thank you all for your patience, some bands have waited over a year for this. I've gotten to know a lot of awesome people by making this, and it would mean the world to me, and to the bands on here, if you listened, downloaded, and/or shared this compilation with the world. I tell ya, it feels really really really good too finally get this thing online. It was definitely a lot of hard work, but I loved every minute of it. I really can't stress it enough how grateful I am with the patience that everyone kept while I was getting this all prepared. I hope that you get a lot of enjoyment out of this, and hopefully become a fan of a few new bands too. I wanted to make sure that there were enough awesome bands, from all over the world, who play all styles of grind/powerviolence on here. I think we got a good collection of blasting jams, everyone should find something to enjoy. Thank you all, thank you Oscar, from the awesome band Chulo (who have the 2nd track on this comp.) for the outstanding artwork, and especially thank you to Andrew "OG" Lipscomb for getting me involved in the first place, and creating Vol. I and kickstarting Vol. II. Operation Grindcore Vol. 2 Line-up + Updates

After MANY months of nothing happening, then a couple more months of getting everything back together, getting a ton more tracks, pulling out hair, and going a little mental, the Operation Grindcore Vol. 2 compilation is nearing completion. It's been a lot of hard work keeping everything together, and the reception I've gotten from bands submitting their tracks has been incredible. But now we're finally at 50 tracks, from 50 bands, and I'm very happy to see it all coming together. Here is the final line-up for the comp.

New Powerviolence Compilation You Should Check Out

From the wonderful people that brought us the USA Power Violence Vol. 1 compilation, comes the the 2nd chapter in this sure to be epic series of releases. While that comp. focuses exclusively on bands from yee 'ol 'Merica, this next one branches and features bands from all across the world, including Get's Worse from the UK, Skuff from Canada, and goddamn Extortion from Australia! While there are very few exclusive tracks for this, this line-up is still stacked enough to make anyone with any interest in underground music give it a shot. It looks like a LOT of time went in putting this together and getting the tapes organized, comps. are a huge undertaking (believe me!). The cassette version of this is still available, I'm sure, but you can download/stream it on bandcamp too. Killer!

Bandcamp Compilation Of The Week: "USA Power Violence Vol. 1"

These week I'd like to bring your attention to this super kick-ass compilation, originating from a currently unknown source (can't find the origin of the comp. at this time). This digital/cassette release features 18 powerviolence/grindcore bands from across the United States, and each one of them contribute some solid jams to this beast. A good chunk of the bands on here have been talked about on OG at some point (False Light, Curmudgeon, Snakes, Suffer On Acid, Stresscase, etc.), so right there you know you have some good jams to listen too. Most of the other bands are ones that I've been meaning to talk about for a while (Bridge, Necklacing). And holy shit, listen to the Beast Plague track on here, goddamn. The cassette is sold out (darn), but you can download it for free on their bandcamp. Help spread the word, and keep your fingers crossed for a Vol. 2!

OSK - "Wretched Existence // Bleak Future 2007-2011" Review

A few months ago I was sitting around thinking to myself; "Boy, I really really love the band OSK. They're so cool and awesome. But I just wish that I could have all their music in one place, like a compilation CD of sorts. So I could have their music on my computer and be able to listen to them on my iPod all the time. That would be swell". Well apparently my thoughts traveled throughout the cosmos because a little while later it was announced that the always excellent To Live A Lie records was putting together the compilation CD I wished for. Smiles for days, people. In my opinion, OSK are one of the most criminally overlooked grind bands going today. Listening to this comp shows that not only does this Canadian trio have what it takes to blast with the best of them, but also the incredible consistency in quality throughout their existence. The songwriting is phenomenally strong, and displays a bit of variation from track to track. Like the metallic tremolo picking in the track "Empty White Box", the upbeat grooves in "Arm Yourself", and the heavy sludge riff influence in "Creeper", "It All Means Nothing Now" and "Lie Through Your Teeth". It really sounds like each song was tweaked with and constructed, instead of just blasting out grind riff after grind riff. I really have no qualms with this band, or this compilation. It's consistently excellent with little to no dull moments. The last few tracks of quite obviously of lower recording quality, but they only take up about a minute and a half of this 20+ minute comp. Crazy good band.
